The welcoming ceremonies took place in two consecutive events, separated into the faculties of engineering and economics and social sciences. Prof Dr Jörg Wagner, President of Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences, opened the welcoming ceremony for first-semester engineering students.

Prof. Dr rer. nat. habil. Mario Schölzel, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Andreas Trump, First Alderman of the City of Nordhausen, also gave welcoming speeches. In addition, the DAAD Prize 2024 for outstanding achievements by foreign students was awarded to Ms Rutuja Koli, a student on the Environmental and Recycling Technology Master's degree programme. The laudatory speech was given by Daniel Harder from the university's International Office.

President Wagner also welcomed the first-semester students of economics and social sciences. Prof Dr Stefan Zahradnik, Dean of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences, and Matthias Jendricke, District Administrator of Nordhausen, gave welcoming speeches. Valerie Theresa Hauser and Luca Eichhorn from the university's student council also welcomed the new students.

Carla Höpker provided the musical accompaniment to the events on the piano. As a traditional welcome gift, the new students received the popular "Ersti Beutel", organised by University Marketing, after the events. This contains useful vouchers, information flyers and merchandise items to make the start of their studies easier.

Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences warmly welcomes the new members of the university community and wishes all students a successful start to the winter semester 2024/25.
