The Faculty of Engineering at the Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences has had a small wind turbine since 11 November 2005, thus further expanding its practical research capacities.
Nordhausen (FHPN) The installation of the wind turbine was followed with great excitement at the FHN on Friday. With a mast height of 18 metres and a rotor diameter of over seven metres, the new pride and joy of the Regenerative Energy Technology course now rises 21 metres above the university campus. The installation went smoothly, so that the turbine could already be put into operation at 2.00 pm. In future, students and scientists at the FHN will be able to investigate the efficiency of combining various renewable energy technologies. In addition to photovoltaics and geothermal energy, the researchers have so far lacked wind energy. This can now be analysed in detail. After all, with its automatic rotor blade adjustment and active wind direction readjustment, the wind turbine has the same equipment as its big brothers in professional use. And as an added bonus, the small wind turbine with an output of 10 KW feeds clean energy into the campus grid, helping to reduce energy costs.
