„Everyone has ADHD these days.“ - While ADHD is often dismissed as a „trend diagnosis“, especially among female sufferers, it is also clear that attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) can be a new approach for many women to understanding their previous experiences. It is striking that women are often only diagnosed in adulthood and, on average, significantly later than men.

What does it mean to be diagnosed with ADHD so late in life? The lecture addresses this question on the basis of a bachelor's thesis and personal experiences as a woman diagnosed late. Supplemented by insights from interviews with other sufferers, a multi-layered picture of the realities of life for women with ADHD emerges.

The lecture combines scientific categorisation with personal perspectives and invites an open exchange afterwards. Women* who have not felt seen for a long time, were diagnosed late or are still in the process of categorisation are particularly invited - as are all other interested persons.
