The first "Gemeinsinn statt Eigensinn" event organised by Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences in cooperation with the municipal library in the council chamber of Nordhausen was very well received by those present. An intensive discussion in a small group focussed on the motivation to participate in such educational events and the opportunities and obstacles to participation in political education processes in general.

Jana Urbanek and Professor Sabrina Schramme from the university's Department of Health and Social Sciences moderated the event and introduced the topic in an easy-to-understand manner with many quotes from famous personalities. In the end, there was a consensus that Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences wants to be a university for everyone in the region and that, with all due neutrality, the communication of a fundamental canon of values, as it corresponds to our liberal-democratic basic order, can be an important task for the members of the university.

The intensive exchange between the speakers, members of the university and citizens of the region at this kick-off event will whet the appetite for the other events in the series in the Council Chamber: on Tuesday, 20 August at 6 p.m., the focus will be on the question of how information influences our opinions. The event will be organised interactively as part of station work.

On Tuesday, 27 August at 6 pm, interested visitors are cordially invited to an open and interactive discussion round. The event will focus on sharing international academic experiences in a regional context.
