This autumn, the Department of Engineering at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences bid farewell to five of its long-standing members: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Sylvia Dannewitz, Dr. rer. nat. Eckhard Wildgrube, Dr. rer. nat. Michael Gebel, Dr. Reiner Haupt and Prof. Dr. Ariane Ruff. The farewell ceremony took place in the university's Audimax and was accompanied by emotional farewell speeches in which the lecturers looked back on their many years of work and many unforgettable moments at the university.

The Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr Thomas Schabbach, University President Prof. Dr Jörg Wagner, Thomas Hoffmann, Prof. Dr Frank Michael Dittes and Prof. Dr Robert Wudtke paid tribute to the achievements of their departing colleagues in personal laudations.

University President Prof. Dr Jörg Wagner emphasised in his speech: "Five excellent scientists are leaving us. But the doors of Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences will always remain open for new ideas, exciting projects and possible collaborations in the future." His words emphasised the close relationship that the university wishes to maintain with its former members.

Following the official farewell, all those present gathered for a convivial get-together. Memories were exchanged in a relaxed atmosphere and there was an opportunity to share personal experiences and stories from the years spent together.
