Born in Nordhausen, he studied the Bachelor's degree programme from 2011 to 2015, and with a final grade of 1.7, he can be justifiably proud of his achievement. In his Bachelor's thesis, he dealt with the topic "The robot cell in the machining sector - design planning and comparison with a CNC machining centre". He received a 1.0 for this.

When asked why he chose to study "Energy and Environmental Informatics", Alexander Steinmetz doesn't have to think twice. "The degree programme offered a very broad range of knowledge in the fields of business administration, energy economics and technology, software development, environmental law and satellite-based remote sensing. I was of the opinion that this would give me a broad "overview knowledge" for my later professional career, enabling me to master even complex tasks," reports the new alumnus.

And he hasn't had enough - Alexander Steinmetz has been studying for a Master's degree in Systems Engineering at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences since this semester. The field of "automation" is what appeals to him the most. "In the long term, I could also imagine a career in research and development at an automotive manufacturer," says Steinmetz.

He is currently working at Trimet Aluminium SE's Harzgerode branch as an employee in the "Technology/Automation" department during his studies. Here he is involved in the planning, analysis and optimisation of die casting systems.
