Visitors to the Science Slam at this year's University Information Day at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences can expect concentrated science packed into 10 minutes.

On Saturday, 21 April, HSN will open its doors for the University Information Day and offer prospective students a look behind the scenes of a university. From 2 p.m., there will be insights into the degree programmes on offer and campus life. Numerous areas of the university and student initiatives will be presenting themselves and answering questions about studying in Nordhausen.
As a special highlight, guests can once again look forward to a very special closing event. At 18:00, it's "Clear the stage!" at what is now the fourth Science Slam at the HSN. Four science slammers will compete against each other in the Audimax and present science in the spotlight. The winner will be decided by the audience.

This year's challengers are:

Simon Hauser
"The Mirror of Salvation from 1440: An innovative text-image work of vernacular lay piety"
How do you convey religious content to a largely illiterate audience? Medieval copyists are also just human beings with all their endearing idiosyncrasies and typical weaknesses. Above all, they were under great pressure to complete their (scribal) work, as we can see from the surviving manuscripts.

Johannes Götting
"Understanding climate change"

We are aware of climate change in many places, but we still see little need to take action. We seem to have become accustomed to news about record temperatures or environmental disasters, but why is that and how can we better understand climate change?

Dr Anja Schreiber
"The truth about bees and flowers"

We are taught a lot about our sexual behaviour at school - but what about the complex, fascinating and at the same time shocking mating behaviour of bees? A lecture about a fatal passion.

Juliane Rönsch
"Curative education - or herbal witches 2.0"

Everyone knows the term curative education or has at least heard it before. Many people also immediately think of special needs education. But only those who have studied it, trained in it or teach it know what it really means... and a few small exceptions. The rest of us hear sayings like "Why don't you heal me" or "That's something like an educator". That's over now. No more prejudices and clichés. So get out your colouring books and get ready for the chair circle of your life
