Ronny Peter comes from Werther and started his degree in Computer Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences in 2000. A study goal that was clear to him early on, as he had been interested in computer technology and computer science since his school days. Not unusual for a young man, but his career choice becomes even clearer when you realise that he was practically born with this passion, as his father runs the company Internet & Software Peter in Werther.
The newly established Computer Engineering degree programme was therefore ideal for him, as it allowed him to complete his desired degree while continuing to help out in his father's company. Despite this double burden, Ronny Peter completed his degree quickly and was able to start his thesis in spring 2004.
The work, which was supervised by Prof. Dr Viktor Wesselak and Prof. Dr Frank-Michael Dittes, was a great challenge for him, as the client's requirements were high: a large database of 150,000 documents, which is maintained and expanded at various locations, was to be merged into an online database using free software.
The final result of the work can now be viewed by all Internet users at www.archiv3.org, where they can find out about the latest development policy findings.
Ronny Peter has never regretted his decision to study in Nordhausen. Looking back, the good contact between students and lecturers in particular, but also the good cohesion among the students, which has grown through many joint activities, characterise the university for him, where 172 students are currently enrolled on the Computer Engineering degree course out of a total of around 1,400.
He also particularly liked the strong practical orientation of the degree programme. Through internships in other companies and the integration of practitioners through teaching assignments in the degree programme, Nordhausen UAS teaches exactly what you need for your future professional practice.
However, Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences has not only provided him with practical training, but has also prepared him for his next challenge, which he wants to tackle straight after graduation: self-employment. Well equipped with the relevant seminars and courses at the university, he wants to set up his own business as a software developer.
