7 March 2025
Accompanied by LEG Thüringen, representatives of Satbayev University (Almaty, Kazakhstan) and its partners visited Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences. In addition to exploring opportunities for cooperation, the programme also included a tour of the campus.

The rector of the leading Kazakh technical university Satbayev University, Meiram Begentayev, recently visited Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences accompanied by eleven university & practice and LEG representatives.
Satbayev University is one of the leading and oldest technical universities in Kazakhstan with around 15,000 students. Like Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences, Satbayev University is committed to sustainability and was the first Kazakh university to sign the UN SDG Charter.
With its numerous institutes and 218 degree programmes, including in the fields of energy and electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, automation and computer science, there are also major technical similarities and overlaps with Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences, which Rector Begentayev and University President Prof. Dr Jörg Wagner discussed in order to identify potential for cooperation.
In discussions and guided tours of the August Kramer Institute, the university incubator "hike" and ThiWert, the visitors were able to gain an impression of the expertise, application-related teaching and research activities and innovative start-up activities before the delegation then paid a visit to the joint partner Schachtbau Nordhausen, which is also active as an entrepreneur in Kazakhstan.
