Home | Little researchers really big: STEM hands-on world for children at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences' Open Day
23 May 2025
When Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences opens its doors on 24 May 2025, young explorers can also look forward to a very special highlight: exciting experiments, creative craft activities and real STEM magic await children aged six and over at the "Little Research Lab" children's programme between 4 and 6 pm.

MINT stands for Mathematics, Informatics, Natural sciences and Technology - and it is precisely this world that children can playfully discover with us.
Whether it's a self-built wind turbine, experiments with air, a barefoot excursion on the nature trail or a 3D pen to marvel at - in and around House 32 (ISRV), a dedicated team of university members invites you to join in. If you like, you can transform yourself with face painting or even build your own little motor in the electrical engineering department.
"With the children's programme, we want to arouse curiosity, spark enthusiasm and get even the youngest children interested in science and research," says Tina Bergknapp, Head of University Communications. "Children often ask the smartest questions - and that's exactly what we want to encourage: playfully, creatively and with a lot of joy in discovery. Anyone who makes wind turbines, programmes or experiments today could help shape the world tomorrow. We firmly believe that early encounters with science are formative - and create the basis for a future-oriented society."
The "Little Research Lab" is part of the Open Day (2-6 p.m.), which offers interested parties an insight into studying and the university's degree programmes. From 6 p.m. onwards, the Long Night of Science continues seamlessly with lectures, presentations and impressions from our research projects, promising a very special scientific experience for all generations.
