Home | No violence against women
22 November 2022
Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences sets an example against violence against women.
Violence against women is an expression of an imbalance of power between the sexes. There are many manifestations of violence against women: physical violence, sexualised violence and sexual harassment, psychological violence and structural violence that restricts personal freedoms and life opportunities. The right for women and girls to live free from violence is a human right. Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences draws attention to these human rights violations with the banner "No violence against women!" on House 18, flyers and notices throughout the university.
There will also be an in-person lecture on sexual violence against women on 23 November 2022. The aim of the lecture is to raise public awareness of domestic violence. The aim is for more people to take a closer look and intervene if there is a threat of violence. Those affected should be encouraged to seek support.
It is also important to publicise offers of help more effectively. This includes the "Violence against women" helpline. Women affected by violence are offered free help around the clock, anonymously and in 18 languages. The telephone number is: 08000 116 016.
