Practical teaching and research in close collaboration with industry

Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences offers a large number of practical Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in the fields of engineering, economics and social sciences. In close co-operation with regional and national companies, it aims to further intensify the link between theory and practice. The co-operation with Piller is an important step towards offering students valuable practical experience alongside their studies and bringing companies into contact with qualified young talent at an early stage.

"The combination of university studies and professional practice creates clear added value for both sides," emphasises Prof. Dr Jรถrg Wagner, President of Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences. "Our students gain sound practical experience, while the companies benefit from fresh ideas, current research and innovative impulses."

Successful start with student project work

Even before the contract was signed, students on the Digital Product Management and Business Administration courses presented innovative concepts for product optimisation, digitalisation, HR management and competitiveness as part of a project initiated by Prof. Dr Lutz Gรถcke. The results were well received by Piller's management and laid the foundation for the now official collaboration.

Contractual focal points

The cooperation agreement, signed by Christoph Bรถhnisch (Managing Director of Piller Blowers & Compressors GmbH) and Prof Dr Jรถrg Wagner, includes the following:

  • Joint research activities
  • Practice-oriented study programmes
  • Supervision of Bachelor's and Master's theses
