Campus tours: Guided tours of the campus are offered several times a day. These tours are conducted by our students and offer authentic insights into daily life at the university. You have the opportunity to get to know the various buildings, laboratories and facilities and learn more about the study conditions. Times: 14:30, 15:30, 16:30
Lectures and workshops: The lecture and workshop programme is rich and covers a variety of topics ranging from current challenges in science to practical insights into research.
Information stands: Throughout the day, numerous information stands will provide extensive information on the various degree programmes and services offered by the university. You can talk to students and lecturers and receive information material on the various degree programmes.

Teaching and research at the HSN - offers from the laboratories: In addition to the lectures and information stands, the Open Day also offers fascinating insights into the laboratories at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences. Visitors can take part in various laboratory tours and demonstrations throughout the day:
- 14:00: Presentation of the Göttingen Wind Tunnel by Christin Rothe in House 28, August Kramer Institute (AKI)
- All day: Insights into research at the Institute for Regenerative Energy Technology (in.RET) with Amelie Oberdorfer in House 34, in.RET/House 28, AKI
- All day: Laboratory tour of environmental and recycling technology, supervised by Frank Einicke, Anja Arlet, Anja Wagner and Susann Petzold. Meeting point is the information stand URT, ERT, GT, ThIWert
- All day: Computer vision lab tour with Dr Birgit Lustermann and Carsten Heise in Building 20, Room 20.0106
- All day: Tour of the hike LAB (innovation lab) with Jonas Mielke in House 36
- All day: Product tasting with biofeedback in the sensory and market research laboratory, presented by Stephanie Glassl and Fabian Schmitz in House 8
- All day: "make WiFi fast" - with AI algorithms for efficient WiFi resource allocation, explained by Prof Dr Thomas Hühn in House 35, Laboratory
- All day: Physical security on the Internet through quantum key distribution in Nordhausen, presented by Prof Dr Thomas Hühn in House 35, Laboratory
Experiment room of the school research centre: The Student Research Centre's experimental room offers exciting activities for all young explorers and junior researchers. From 13:00 to 17:00 on the lawn between House 18 and the library, visitors can give free rein to their curiosity and take part in various hands-on stations.
- Microscopy: Examine what you find on site or bring with you under the microscope.
- Logic games: Test and improve your skills with various tricky logic games.
- Optical systems: Build and experiment with the UC2 mini optical construction kit.
- Ozobot robot: Programme and control the small, versatile Ozobot robot.
- Colouring tables: Train your spatial thinking and creativity with special colouring mirrors.
Dr Agnese Fazio, the STEM coordinator for North Thuringia, will be on hand to supervise the exciting experiments and provide information about the wide range of activities on offer at the school research centre. This area is particularly suitable for children and young people who enjoy maths, computer science, natural sciences and technology and want to discover their enthusiasm for STEM subjects.
Mobile showroom Transferwerk: A special attraction is the Transferwerk showroom, where visitors can discover exciting experiments and innovative research results. Here, research is brought to life and you can gain an insight into the practice-orientated work of our scientists and students.

- 13:30 - 14:00: Evaluation of the model project "Inclusive early intervention" with Denise Schulz
- 14:00 - 14:15: Can the climate crisis still be stopped? A lecture on research and studies in the field of renewable energies with Dr Pascal Leibbrandt and Prof Dr Frank Wiese
- 14:15 - 15:00: Panel discussion on digital product management and artificial intelligence with Prof Dr Lutz Göcke and guests
- 15:45 - 16:00: Repetition of the lecture on the climate crisis and renewable energies with Dr Pascal Leibbrandt and Prof Dr Frank Wiese
- 16:00 - 16:45: Presentation of the research projects at the Institute of Computer Science, Automation and Electronics with Prof. Dr Klaus-Peter Neitzke
- 16:45 - 17:00: Final presentation on the climate crisis and renewable energies with Dr Pascal Leibbrandt and Prof Dr Frank Wiese
These lectures and discussions offer a good opportunity to find out about current research projects and scientific issues. The university's experts provide in-depth insights into their work and are available for questions and discussions.
Culinary supply: Food and drink will also be well catered for. The canteen offers a selection of food and drinks from 12:00 to 17:00. There will also be drinks and coffee from the Karzer student club in House 8 as well as an ice cream van providing sweet refreshments from 14:00 to 17:00.
Other attractions and hands-on activities: In addition to the highlights mentioned above, there are numerous other offers such as
- Ball sports tournaments in the H 22 sports hall, where all guests are welcome to take part
- Test drives in an electric car with the Südharzer Stromern
- Techniker Krankenkasse climbing wall where you can test your dexterity and strength
All are welcome: The open day is primarily aimed at school pupils who would like to find out about their study options. Their parents, siblings and grandparents are also cordially invited to familiarise themselves with the campus and the extensive range of courses offered by Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences. People who are interested in our subjects, such as technology, science, renewable energies and digitalisation, are also very welcome to find out about the latest developments and research projects and get in touch with our experts. Campus party - the highlight of the evening: The campus party starts at 18:00 and promises a varied and entertaining evening programme. Various bands and DJs will provide musical highlights and there will be plenty of opportunities to round off the evening with drinks and snacks in a convivial atmosphere.
