Over the past few months, a team of students specialising in personnel management on the bachelor's degree course in business administration at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences has been supporting SCHACHTBAU NORDHAUSEN GmbH in drawing up a practice-oriented action plan for the deployment of third-party personnel.

Optimising the use of external personnel is a component of personnel management within SCHACHTBAU NORDHAUSEN GmbH in order to provide the company's projects and production facilities with additional staff. Third-party personnel includes temporary labour, work contracts and solo self-employed persons (freelancers), whose contractual framework conditions are regulated by law in different ways.

Renรฉ Zimprich (Head of Human Resources) and the project team - consisting of Oliver Schnellhardt, Michael Lehmann, Johannes Kropff and Matthias Lehmann - agreed the project objectives in an initial kick-off meeting in order to make the existing legal situation transparent for the company's managers and to anchor the level of information throughout the company. These include defining the various options for deploying third-party personnel, analysing the legal framework and making recommendations regarding the selection of contractual options.

The team produced the project results independently, supported by continuous coaching from Renรฉ Zimprich and Prof Dr Steffen Dรถrhรถfer. The agreed project goals were achieved by the student team by fulfilling the requirements for quick information on the use of third-party personnel by means of a detailed elaboration of the legal framework and a summarised checklist. The checklist can now be passed on to the managers of the relevant departments for immediate use.

This marks the end of an exciting practical project that enabled the students to gain practical experience and insights into HR work.
