Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences and WEKO Informatik GmbH conclude cooperation agreement for practice-oriented studies in the Computer Science degree programme

Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences and WEKO Informatik GmbH have signed a cooperation agreement for practice-orientated studies. The aim of the cooperation is to enable students to closely interlink academic training and business practice and at the same time to retain qualified specialists in the Nordhausen region at an early stage.

The cooperation agreement was signed by Prof Dr Jörg Wagner, President of Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences, and Werner Kopmann, Managing Director of WEKO Informatik GmbH.

The signing of the contract was accompanied by Thomas Hirt and Ciara Pascale, who, together with Thomas Füldner from the Transferwerk at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences, were instrumental in preparing and driving the cooperation forward.

A special aspect of the cooperation: Ms Ciara Pascale will study computer science in the practice-oriented degree programme (Studium Praxis) at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences from the winter semester 2026 and complete her practical phases at WEKO Informatik GmbH. This will directly realise the cooperation between the university and the company.

During the meeting, Prof. Dr Mario Schölzel, Vice Dean of the Department of Engineering and Dean of Computer Science, presented the degree programme as well as the structure and advantages of the practice-oriented course. In particular, he emphasised the added value for students, who are given optimal conditions for a successful career start through real projects, direct involvement in company processes and close professional support.

With this cooperation, Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences and WEKO Informatik GmbH are sending a further signal in favour of strengthening practice-oriented academic training and securing a sustainable supply of skilled workers in the Nordhausen region.
