A representative from Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University in Kahramanmaraş, Anatolia, visited Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences on 5 August 2026. During the visit, the parties explored joint educational programmes and opportunities to expand the partnership, which has been in place since July 2025.

On 5 August 2026, the University President, Prof. Dr Jörg Wagner, welcomed the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture and Head of International Academic Partnerships, Prof. Dr Özdeş Çermik, to Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences.

Founded in 1992, Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University, with its more than 20 research institutes – including those specialising in environmental technology and computer science – is one of the leading research universities in Anatolia, with around 34,000 students.

With its numerous faculties and institutes, including those in the fields of electrical engineering and electronics, mechanical engineering, geo- and environmental engineering, and computer science, there are significant academic similarities and overlaps with Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences; Vice-Dean Çermik and University President Prof. Dr Jörg Wagner discussed these to explore further potential for sustainable cooperation. These included, in particular, opportunities for student exchanges at Master’s level and the possibility of guest lecturers for Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences’ International Project Week.

Accompanied by Mr Frank Einicke, a laboratory engineer in the Department of Environmental Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, Vice-Dean Çermik was able to gain an insight, through discussions and guided tours of the modern laboratories used by the future engineers at HSN, into the expertise, application-oriented teaching and research activities, and innovative start-up initiatives of the university incubator „hike“ (represented by Thomas Herwig and Christian Zoll), and – together with Prof. Dr Michael Rutz from the Recycling Technology department at ThIWert – gain a detailed insight into the university’s expertise, application-oriented teaching and research activities, and innovative start-up initiatives.
