On 5 August, two members of staff at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences received certificates from the Free State of Thuringia to mark their 25th anniversary of service in the public sector. The university’s president, Prof. Dr Jörg Wagner, presented the awards in person and paid tribute to the long-standing commitment and valuable work of the recipients for the university.

The following were honoured:

• Roberto Auer, member of staff in the Research and Science Outreach Unit
• Sandra Thomas, Secretary to the President, Executive Committee

Roberto Auer has been working at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences since 2001. In the Research and Knowledge Transfer Department, he supports the further development of research and knowledge transfer at the university. His responsibilities include, amongst other things, overseeing academic projects, providing support on funding and collaboration issues, and fostering links with regional partners and funding bodies. Through his work, he helps to raise the profile of research activities, expand collaborations and strengthen the transfer of knowledge between the university, industry and society.

Sandra Thomas has also been working at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences for 25 years. Having held posts in the International Office, the Press Office and the Language Centre, she has been supporting the work of the Executive Board as the President’s secretary since 2003. In this role, she carries out organisational and administrative tasks, including managing the President’s diary, handling outgoing post and parcels, and liaising with internal and external contacts. Through her work, she supports the day-to-day running of the President’s Office and contributes to the smooth running of the university’s administration.
