On 1 September 2026, people from the local community, universities, clubs and initiatives will come together to develop ideas for bringing people together, fostering a sense of belonging and promoting harmonious coexistence in the region.

How can people in Nordhausen and northern Thuringia settle in more easily, get to know one another and shape their region together? With this question in mind, WORT Nord is hosting an ideas workshop on Monday 1 September 2026, from 4.00 pm to 7.00 pm, at the new community space at Kornmarkt 4 in Nordhausen.

People from the wider community, universities, clubs, initiatives, social organisations, schools, nurseries, churches, the housing sector, the student body and regional networks are invited. Together, we aim to develop ideas on how to foster interaction, a sense of belonging and a welcoming living environment for newcomers, local residents and students.

The focus is on questions such as: Where are there gaps in opportunities for people to come together in Nordhausen and the surrounding region? What helps people to feel welcome and part of the community? What links are needed between the university, the local community and regional stakeholders? And which ideas can we work on together to put into practice?

„With the Ideas Workshop, we want to bring together people who want to help shape Nordhausen and Northern Thuringia. Our aim is not just to talk about challenges, but to develop concrete ideas that can lead to small, feasible projects,“ says Marita Peter from WORT Nord.

So-called ‘creative projects’ may subsequently emerge from the ideas workshop. These are small, practical initiatives that foster interaction, strengthen a sense of belonging, make people feel valued and enable new connections to be forged within the region. WORT Nord supports selected project ideas through to implementation and provides on-the-spot information about the process, requirements and possible sources of support.

No prior knowledge is required to take part. Anyone who would like to help shape Nordhausen and Northern Thuringia, contribute their own experiences or already has an initial idea for a project is welcome to join us. Places are limited. Please register in advance.
