Big dreams but a small wallet? That's no reason to despair.
There are numerous opportunities to receive financial support for studying abroad.
The eligibility criteria of our university are Programme Guide of the European Commission and the guidelines of the National Agency for University Cooperation NA DAAD for each call for funding is determined by the Advisory Board for International Affairs.
Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences is currently providing funding from the Call 2025, the funding criteria for which can be found here:
Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences awards PROMOS partial scholarships funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). They amount to between €350 and €550 per month of funding, depending on the destination country. Eligible for funding are international study visits outside the Erasmus programme countries with a minimum stay of three months.
Applications can be submitted via the International Office. Scholarship holders are selected twice a year by the Advisory Board for International Affairs.

International study visits by German students are possible under the Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG) can be funded. One or two semesters of study that are integrated into the degree programme (i.e. the credits earned abroad are credited to the degree programme) are funded relatively easily. It is also worthwhile for students who do not receive BAföG in Germany to apply, as the funding rates are higher due to the additional costs incurred abroad. The application must always be submitted to the BAföG office responsible for the destination country (not the BAföG office in Nordhausen).
By the way: The funding can be combined with Erasmus+ or PROMOS, as these are only partially offset against BAföG.
Further information is available at: www.bafög.de.
In addition, there is a whole range of different scholarships to support study abroad. An overview can be found at Scholarship database of the DAAD.
