As an innovator, Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences would like to bring its transfer potential in the key research areas of green tech, management and governance as well as social and health services with a focus on climate protection, digitalisation and services of general interest to society and address the major social challenges of our time. For this reason, the university has launched an ambitious project: the Transferwerk.

As part of the funding initiative Innovative university Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences was awarded the contract for the Transferwerk and was able to secure a budget of 3.5 million euros for a period of five years. "Our university sees itself as a driver of innovation," emphasises Prof. Dr Jörg Wagner, President of Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences, who is also the project manager of the Transferwerk alongside Prof. Dr Elmar Hinz and Prof. Dr Steffen Dörhöfer.


The first meeting of the project advisory board took place on 30 May and brought together representatives from science, business and administration. The eight-member advisory board is made up of four scientists and four representatives from business and other organisations. The members of the advisory board include Torsten Weil, State Secretary in the Thuringian Ministry of Infrastructure, Peggy Hunold, Managing Director of Holzbau Hunold GmbH & Co. KG, Holger Richter, board member of the youth welfare organisation JSW Management e. V., Mathias Kurras, Managing Director of Maximator Hydrogen GmbH, and Prof Dr Uta Breuer, Professor at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences. The advisory board members support the work of the Transferwerk team with their experience and networks. The six-member Transferwerk team is intended to have an internal and external impact: Scientists are to be supported in expanding their networks in a targeted manner, developing transfer projects between scientific research and social challenges and improving science communication. Their aim is to make the university's scientific achievements tangible and accessible to a broad public.


The Transferwerk's planned projects also include a mobile showroom that will be present at trade fairs and events. "The mobile showroom can be set up in schoolyards or in public spaces, for example," explains Prof Dr Jörg Wagner. "Hands-on science" is intended to make Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences more visible and tangible for everyone.


The Transferwerk at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences aims to strengthen the region and the university location. The close cooperation between science, business, administration and society is intended to have a long-term impact on the region.


The Transferwerk at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences is a pioneering project that promotes the transfer of knowledge to society and establishes the university as a centre of innovation. By focusing on forward-looking topics such as climate protection, digitalisation and services of general interest, Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences aims to make a positive contribution to overcoming social challenges.
