Home | Intercultural competence strengthened - Two HSN employees successfully complete first training phase
18 August 2025
As part of the DAAD project HAW.International: HSN - sustainable regional international, funded by the BMFTR, two employees of Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences were able to take part in the interculture.de e.V. training programme "Intercultural Competence".

Beate Dietrich (Study Service Centre) and Friedrich Ederer (Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences) have successfully completed the first part of their training to become intercultural trainers and have been awarded the "Intercultural Competence" certificate.
Over a period of six months, they dealt with topics such as culture, interculturality and diversity in order to be able to offer intercultural training tailored to Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences (HSN) and the region in the future. The training was made possible as part of the DAAD project HAW.International: HSN - sustainable regional international, funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space - BMFTR.
Friedrich Ederer is satisfied and excited about the second part: "I can pass on the new impulses to students in my teaching and develop new training formats for our university (and cooperation partners) together with colleagues".
Project manager Jenny Ettrich: "By training multipliers as part of the project, we are sustainably securing the range of intercultural training courses for HSN employees and students - with colleagues as trainers. They know how HSN 'ticks' and where even more openness and understanding for each other can be built up through customised training - among students, office colleagues and international academics - in order to strengthen good regional and international cooperation in everyday university life - and to do so sustainably, without external contracts."
From November 2025, Beate Dietrich and Friedrich Ederer will continue their training to become Intercultural Trainers. Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences congratulates both participants on their successful certification and thanks them for their commitment.
