This year's Girls' Day, which took place on 25 April 2024 at the August Kramer Institute (AKI) at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences, was a complete success. 15 young participants took the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of science and research for a day.

The day began at 08:30 with a welcome and a guided tour by Prof Dr Uta Breuer, who took the students on a journey of discovery through the facility.

As part of the programme, the girls were able to take part in two interactive workshops. The first workshop, "Tinkering, soldering and experimenting", was run by the Student Research Centre. Under the guidance of Dr Agnese Fazio, the participants had the opportunity to make LED greeting cards, solder kits and even make their own nail polish.

The second workshop, "Be effective yourself", was run by Jana Urbanek and focussed on coping with stress and excessive demands. The girls learnt how to effectively look after themselves and others while promoting mental well-being.

At lunchtime, all participants gathered in the canteen on the university campus to exchange ideas and enjoy a meal together. The day ended at 2 p.m. with a farewell ceremony and the presentation of certificates of participation, which are intended not only as a memento for the girls, but also as confirmation of the knowledge and skills they have acquired.

Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences would like to thank everyone involved for an exciting Girls' Day and looks forward to continuing to support young talents in their academic and personal development in the future.
