Technology is exciting - numerous girls were able to experience this first-hand on this year's Girls' Day at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences on 3 April. With a variety of creative and practical hands-on stations, the university gave the participants exciting insights into technical and scientific professions.

The Nordhausen School Research Centre presented itself with two popular stations: The girls were able to try their hand at soldering and make their first electronic connections. At the LEGO Spike station, robots were programmed and set in motion - the participants learnt the basics of coding and robotics in a fun way.
In the Geotechnics laboratory was all about science with everyday relevance: chemical processes were explained and tried out when making nail varnish, while the participants got creative at the LED card station and designed their own illuminated greetings cards.
"The aim of Girls' Day is to get girls interested in professions in which women have been underrepresented to date," explains Agnese Fazio, Head of the Student Research Centre at the university. "We are delighted that we were able to show how exciting STEM subjects can be with our programme - and in an open, supportive atmosphere."
The day of action was organised by Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences in cooperation with the initiative www.mintthueringen.de, which is committed to promoting girls and young women in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology.
The participants explored the world of technology with a great deal of curiosity, fun and team spirit - and perhaps one or two of them have already laid the foundations for a future career in the STEM sector.
