Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences and Lviv Polytechnic National University (Ukraine) are further expanding their cooperation. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed on 18 August as part of a delegation visit from Lviv.

The delegation from Lviv Polytechnic National University visited Nordhausen back in January 2024. The first joint prospects for cooperation were discussed at that time. With the current signing, the cooperation is now to be intensified in concrete terms.

In particular, the Memorandum of Understanding provides for the exchange of students and lecturers, joint research projects and the development of joint study programmes. Access to scientific publications is also to be facilitated and the transfer of knowledge between the two universities promoted.

"With this agreement, we are creating a stable basis for a long-term and mutually beneficial partnership," emphasised Prof. Dr Jörg Wagner, President of Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences, at the signing ceremony. "Especially in times of international challenges, the expansion of our relationships with European partner universities is of great importance."

The Ukrainian delegation consisted of:

  • Dr Roman Korzh, 1st Vice-Rector
  • Dr Volodymyr Ortynskyi
  • Dr Vitalii Zavalnyi
  • Denys Nevinskyi, Director of the German-Ukrainian Education Centre (also interpreter for the talks)

Prof. Dr Roman Korzh, who signed the memorandum on behalf of Lviv Polytechnic National University, emphasised: "Our universities share the common goal of opening up new opportunities for students and academics and making our cooperation visible in the European higher education area."
