Contents

Subject area 1: Electrical energy technology, photovoltaics and fuel cells

Room: House 35, Electrical Energy Systems Laboratory

EET 1 - Simulation of a 380 kV overhead line

  • Operating behaviour of a line in open circuit, with matching and short circuit with resistive-inductive and purely inductive load
  • Unbalanced short-circuits, short-circuit protection with overcurrent relay and overvoltage and undervoltage protection

EET 5 - Direct current controller

  • Step-up and step-down converters, circuit analysis and dimensioning

EET 6 - Fuel cell

  • Functional principle, characteristics and various characteristic values of a PEM fuel cell stack
  • Efficiency determination and problem discussion

Subject area 2: Solar thermal energy, biomass and fuels, geothermal energy

Rooms: Laboratory for power and working machines, Biogas/new energy sources laboratory, Thermal Energy Systems Laboratory

ST 3 - Thermography

  • Surface-mounted temperature measurement (Pt 100, Pt 1000, etc.)
  • Non-contact temperature measurement with an infrared camera: basics, characteristic values and interpretation of the camera images

ST 9 - Pellet boiler

  • Determination of the thermal efficiency of a pellet boiler. A simplified test setup is used for this purpose, which allows the relevant parameters to be measured.
  • Determination of the abrasion resistance of wood pellets

ST 11 - Heat pump

  • Calculation of a heat pump cycle process with reheating based on measurement results from a permanently installed WPS 50 I heat pump (BUDERUS)
  • The heat source system of the AKI laboratory consists of a total of 6 different brine circuits, each of which can be switched individually.
