The General Equal Treatment Act (AGG) is a federal law that aims to prevent or eliminate discrimination. Employees have the right to report to a complaints centre set up specifically for this purpose if they feel disadvantaged by their employer, superiors, other employees or third parties in connection with their employment relationship.
If you would like to report a case in which you believe you have been disadvantaged in the above sense, please contact the Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences Complaints Office informally by e-mail, telephone or in person. Your complaint will of course be treated with absolute confidentiality and discretion at all times.
If you have books at home that are currently only placeholders in your cupboard, the bookcase on the library forecourt offers you the opportunity to give them to other people free of charge. You are also welcome to take books from the collection. Just drop by and have a look!
Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences offers you a wide range of benefits: Take advantage of regional benefits by presenting your Thoska or you can also benefit from the national discounts on the mitarbeiterangebote.de platform. All details about the partners and how to register can be found on the intranet on Moodle under „Corporate Benefits“.
As a token of appreciation for our employees, you will receive a matching university college jacket in the colour of your choice. The jackets are ordered once a year for new employees. The President's Office is responsible for enquiring about this. If you are interested in other university products, you can find them in our fan shop.
As a university member, you have the opportunity to take part in the university sports programme free of charge. Furthermore, the university regularly cooperates with various clubs and sports associations so that you can also take advantage of their offers at a reduced rate. You will receive information about the sports programme at the beginning of each semester by e-mail and on the website.
On our campus, there are publicly accessible coffee machines in House 18, Level 2 (snacks also available), in House 19 on the ground floor (snacks also available) and in House 20 in the basement.

Our student club „KARZER“ is located in House 9, below the cafeteria. This provides a central meeting point on campus for students and members of the university. KARZER regularly organises various events such as parties, theme and bar evenings and cultural events. KARZER also organises a café where you can get drinks from Monday to Friday.

Our university canteen, which is run by Studierendenwerk Thüringen, offers a varied menu (including vegan and vegetarian options), snacks, sandwiches and drinks that changes daily. At lunchtime there are at least three main courses to choose from, and occasionally there are also themed weeks.
Anyone who is employed at the university receives a pension through payment with the Thoska discounted prices. These do not apply when paying with Girocard. The Thoska can be topped up at the top-up machines in the entrance area of Building 18, in the university library and in the canteen using a Girocard, Visa or MasterCard or cash.
The university newsletter informs you about current events, events, results from committee meetings and much more. This is usually published bi-monthly as a website link by e-mail, at the beginning of even-numbered months.
If you have a message for the newsletter yourself, you can send it to the President's Office by e-mail on an ongoing basis.
Our Language Centre (SPZ) regularly offers English courses and, on request, German as a second language specifically for our employees. You will receive information about the courses on offer by e-mail at the beginning of each semester. The following courses are usually offered:
The main aim of this course is to enable all teachers to prepare themselves for teaching in English.
English language skills are becoming an increasingly important requirement for university teachers to do their job effectively. If you are a teacher and want to develop your communication skills in English in an academic context, this course will help you to master your day-to-day work.
Our „English for Teachers“ seminar is designed to develop and improve your English language skills. It includes:
All courses are customised to the needs of the participants. Flexible participation, join at any time.
The English courses I and II for employees are designed to practise and improve your communicative competence in English in various settings in the world of work.
Topics include everyday situations, including building office and administrative vocabulary, English correspondence (emails) and advising and supporting students and staff in English. Role plays, short presentations and discussions will help to improve your fluency.
The language course with the target language level B2/C1 teaches linguistic, communicative and job-related skills alongside your work. You will acquire German language skills that are generally required in the workplace or in teaching and learn the necessary vocabulary, idioms and grammar to communicate effectively with your colleagues both orally and in writing.
Note: In the „Intradict“ on Moodle you will find a helpful collection of English (typically university-related) terms.
In addition, the Erasmus programme, for example, also offers the opportunity to complete language courses and further training abroad. For further information, please contact the International Office.
Many different events and activities take place at our university, and we cordially invite you to participate.
The event organised by the Staff Council Hiking day takes place annually in September.
There will also be an event organised by the KARZER student club. Campus festival instead.
Events such as the Long Night of Science, the University Information Day, the Alumni Day, the International project week, The university also organises the „Jugend forscht“ regional competition and the campus run. There are also a large number of specialist events such as congresses, conferences, lecture series and workshops on a wide range of topics. Furthermore, many organisational units plan their own Christmas party. Public events can be found in the calendar of events on the website.
