Accidents at work or on the way to work that result in incapacity for work and a visit to the doctor must be reported to the accident insurance institution responsible for the company and via the university. The accident report serves to document that the accident occurred during an insured activity.
Initial treatment must be provided by an emergency doctor or directly at a rescue centre. The accident must then be reported to the occupational safety specialist within one week. The next steps can also be agreed there and any unanswered questions answered.
In the event of a threat situation, such as a shooting spree or a bomb being found in the vicinity, the defined procedure and recommended behaviour can be found on the intranet under โPlan for threat situationsโ or on the โEveryoneโ drive in the โAllโ folder. In all seminar rooms, offices and laboratories, you will also find a notice summarising the most important information. In addition, an automatic message is sent via the telephone system to inform employees about the current situation.
As part of the occupational health service, appointments can be booked for individual consultations on a health issue or a second medical opinion with the company doctor on site. This service is provided exclusively in the context of official duties and is not a substitute for a general practitioner. You will be informed about the respective appointments via posters and e-mails. Appointments can be booked via the Moodle platform.
The Occupational Health Service offers regular appointments on campus for eye examinations for work at VDUs. Depending on the examination results and requirements, it is possible to apply to the university for an additional payment for computer glasses. Appointments can be booked via the Moodle platform.
The occupational health service offers the option of a workplace inspection. Your workplace will be assessed with regard to ergonomics and health and safety regulations. Together with the company doctor and the occupational safety specialist, solutions for any necessary reorganisation are found and implemented. Appointments for workplace inspections are booked via the Moodle platform.
In the event of an accident or injury at the university, a first aider (trained employee) can be contacted depending on the type and urgency. A list of first aiders can be found on our website under Health Management. In addition, the offices of the first aiders are marked on the floor so that they can be located quickly in an emergency. If you, as an employee of Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences, are interested in being trained as a first aider, please contact our responsible occupational safety specialist.
If you need access to a building in the evening or at the weekend, please contact the Building and Real Estate Department by e-mail. In urgent cases, you can also contact the security staff in Building 16 (gatehouse) outside normal working hours.
