Newborn children of students and employees are given a bib with the Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences logo as a welcome gift. If you like, you can have a souvenir photo taken at the handover. Please ask the Equal Opportunities and Family Officer for more information. The bib can be collected from the Equal Opportunities and Family Officer at any time. There is also a voucher worth โฌ10 for the Sรผdharzgalerie or the Marktpassage Nordhausen.
There is a publicly accessible parent-child room (first aid room) in House 32, which can be used by parents and children to work, play or rest at any time. It can also be used as a breastfeeding room.
Our university has developed a concept for a family-conscious university that will be implemented in the long term. In doing so, we are committed to the continued family-friendly organisation of studies, academic careers and administrative areas. In doing so, we also assume social responsibility and fulfil the demands for gender equality and the support of students and employees with family responsibilities.
The university's mission statement includes a broader definition of family. According to this, a family exists wherever long-term responsibility (upbringing and care) is assumed, particularly for partners, children or relatives in need of care.
For all family members with family work, the digital Family Card The university's Equal Opportunities and Family Officer can be contacted free of charge using a form. It enables students with family work to receive preferential enrolment in courses and project events. Anyone with such a card receives a voucher of โฌ10 per child and free participation in a first aid course for children.
In the Library a book box with a wide range of books for toddlers and pre-school children can be used on the lower level in the reading room. Please ask the library staff for more information.
In our Campus-Kinderโ day care centreโ, which is run by Studierendenwerk Thรผringen, children from different backgrounds, cultures and lifestyles play and learn here every day. The centre primarily welcomes children of students and university staff. The daycare centre is located directly on campus in a quiet location with plenty of space for movement. There are 25 places available for children from the age of 8 months until they start school.
Baby changing facilities are available in the anteroom of the toilets in the canteen building (House 8), in the first aid room in House 32 and in the all-gender toilet in the university library (entrance area on the right).
