At Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences, there are experts for coordinating and ensuring certain tasks and responsibilities. They act as contact persons to coordinate various tasks and responsibilities and to ensure that university operations run smoothly. These representatives are experts in their respective fields and act as points of contact for students, lecturers and staff.
In addition to the University Assembly and the two faculty councils, there are various advisory boards for different subject areas at our university.
These include: the Research, Media, Teaching and Library Advisory Board, the Advisory Board for International Affairs and the Advisory Board for Gender Equality. These meet regularly and can be found on the intranet on Moodle (after registration) at Committee schedules.
The Staff Council represents the interests of all employees with the exception of professors and liaises with the Executive Board on an ongoing basis. Its main task is to monitor compliance with all laws, regulations and collective bargaining agreements that apply in favour of employees. All personnel, social, organisational and internal measures of the university are subject to co-determination by the Staff Council.
Under current Thuringian law, academic staff whose posts are funded wholly or partly by third-party funding, and assistants, are not automatically represented by the Staff Council in matters relating to recruitment, salary grading and contract renewal. All academic staff working on third-party funded projects, as well as assistants, are advised to submit an „application for representation by the Staff Council“ so that they may be represented by the Staff Council during recruitment, grading and contract renewal.
The Staff Council meets regularly every fortnight to discuss and decide on motions submitted by the university management or its own initiative motions. It is elected every five years by all eligible employees and is made up of seven members.
The Staff Council publishes an activity report on the work it has carried out at the half-yearly staff meeting. The Presentations of the staff meetings can be found in the intranet area on Moodle.
The Representative Body for People with Severe Disabilities supports the integration of people with severe disabilities and those treated as such, represents their interests and provides them with advice. It also ensures that the laws, regulations and other provisions applicable to these individuals are complied with.
