Career prospects

With a successfully completed degree in Public Management, you have excellent career opportunities. Thanks to the interdisciplinary training at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences, you can work in the public sector, but also in public companies or private companies with a public sector background. Entry into the upscale non-technical management service is possible. Up to now, graduates of this degree course have usually found their way into work very quickly, in some cases they have already received pledges even before they have completed their studies.

Alternatively, you have the opportunity to start a master degree course in Public Management & Governance.

Around two-thirds of the graduates enrolled since 2007 have opted for immediate entry into the profession. Of these, 8% worked in federal administrations, 30% in state administrations, 45% in local governments and 2% in other public administrations, in addition 2% in public companies, 6% in audit and consulting companies, 5% in other companies and 2% in non-profit organizations. In public administrations, they work in human resources (21%), finance and controlling (15%), social affairs and employment promotion (20%), foreigners, asylum and integration (7%) or in many other fields (37%).

About one third of the graduates of the Bachelor degree course have decided to study for a Master's degree in order to qualify for higher-level work.

Entry requirements

For a Public Management degree course  (B.A.) at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences applicants need a general higher education entrance qualification, subject-specific higher education entrance qualification or an equivalent recognized degree.

Course structure

This degree course includes two practical semesters, which ensures a strong practical relevance. The bachelor thesis is connected to the second internship. A special offer of the Nordhausen University is that study and internship semesters are also possible abroad.
