Internships abroad

Would you like to travel the world and get some work experience under your belt at the same time? Get a taste of working life in another country and brush up your language skills? An internship abroad for a semester will give you the opportunity to do all this.

Can anyone do an internship? In accordance with the university regulations of Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences, students on any degree course have the opportunity to do an internship or write their final thesis abroad. (There is one exception to this rule: the first internship for the Public Management Bachelor’s course must be completed in Germany.) In addition, there is the possibility of completing an internship at the end of your studies (internships for graduates).

Where can I go? You are responsible for arranging your own internship. Ask around among your contacts, check out the notices on campus or browse the internet for interesting offers. For some useful links, see point 11 of our step-by-step guide to internships abroad.

What about funding? There are numerous ways to fund your work experience abroad. Special allowances are available for students with disabilities and students travelling with children. Detailed information is available here: funding options.

When should I start preparing for my trip? If you wish to fulfil your dream of doing an internship abroad, you should start preparing as soon as possible. To find out more about what you need to do and when, take a look at our step-by-step guide to internships abroad.

Still undecided? Take this opportunity to benefit from the experiences of other students. Read the reports online or come to one of the information sessions on the various countries. The sessions take place regularly on Wednesday at 7 PM online.
