Language center of the university

Foreign language training at the Language Center of Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences is an integral part of the study programme in all HSN bachelor's degree programmes. As a rule, the schedule includes two or four hours of foreign language instruction per week. The goal of this intensive foreign language training is to prepare students for modern working life, in which it is taken for granted that students will operate on an international level. Foreign language skills also come into play during academic research, during International Project Week, and during study or internships abroad.

Master's students can also participate in language courses. For them, the elective programme and individual offerings are available in English. Students in the master's programmes in Innovation and Change Management, Public Management & Governance, and Industrial Engineering can participate in the courses "Meetings and Negotiations" or "Academic Writing".

The regular range of language courses for Bachelor's degree programmes includes English, Spanish, Russian, French, Italian, and German as a foreign language. Which language you can take is determined by the study regulations of your chosen degree programme. In addition to English as a compulsory subject, you can of course take other language courses (in the elective area). In addition, the course "German as a Foreign Language" is open to all students whose native language is not German.

Language Labs

Foreign language training takes place in language laboratories or special language rooms equipped with computer workstations and presentation media.
